Community How To: Privacy & Email Settings
In this blog post I'm going to show you how to best manage your notifications from the Community site.
Click on Settings to access your My Settings area and click on Privacy on the left of the screen. This area is where you can control who can see your personal My Page, blog, pictures and videos. You can also set up moderation for anything you add to videos, blogs and pictures, as well as people commenting on your My Page. Finally if you were wondering how items were being added to the Latest Activity section of the front page, you can control that setting as well.
Now lets discuss Following. As you join groups, make comments and participate in the forum, the community is set up to let you know when additional activity takes place. If you do not want to "Follow" groups or conversations, you can unfollow as you join the groups or you can go to the Email settings and modify the defaults.
The next tab on the left is Email settings. If you have just found this settings and want to clear out all of the following you have done so far, just click the button at the bottom of the page and you will unfollow all groups and discussions immediately. In addition, you can set to receive no email at all from the community from this location. Keep in mind if someone emails you from within the community, you will not receive a notification with this checked and you will need to check your inbox in the community manually.
In addition to being a part of the Wood Whisperer community, you also have the option to join other communities with your Ning ID. However please take a moment to access your Ning Email Notifications, we highly recommend you set "Invitations to other Social Networks" set to No (unless you really do want to receive emails). You'll also find Ning Privacy Settings, from here you will want to set who can see your Ning profile (for example i've set it to just be seen by my Friends)
The Ning Social Networks tab gives you a complete view of all social networks you might have joined that use Ning. From here you can leave a network or easily edit your profile for that network.
