Proper initial fit of a zero-clearance insert

Mine does not clear the bottom of the casting, but it does go down far enough to drop in a store bought insert.

Proper initial fit of a zero-clearance insert

I have a Delta Contractors saw and have not had that problem. Check to see if saw dust has built up and limiting how far you can lower the blade. I have to periodically clean out all of the stops.

One sander or two?

I have the Harbor Freight spindle sander and have zero complaints about it. I usually use HF as disposable tools, but heard good things about the spindle sander. So far it's worked great. I have a s…

Dust Deputy, Opinion?

I've looked at these ever since they came out. It usually get great reviews. I would own one...BUT...I just can't get over spending $100 on a 5 gallon bucket with a cyclone attached to the lid. On t…

I have the Harbor Freight spindle sander and have zero complaints about it. I usually use HF as disposable tools, but heard good things about the spindle sander. So far it's worked great. I have a small Delta belt/disc sander and hardly ever use it…

I had a few Dodge trucks when i lived outside of town. When I moved back into the big city my truck kept asking for thousand dollar bills to keep running so i bought a Volvo S70 and a little trailer. You should see the guys face when you pull up to…

I haven't bought anything online from them, but I have been to their store a couple of times. After talking to him a couple of times I wouldn't have any problem ordering from them. Actually I want to make another trip down there, it's about an hour…

Hang in there Duane. As always if you need any help, just drop me a note I'm only in Clintonville. Also i have a new toy in the shop, I'm finishing a 30" v-drum sander this weekend. If you need to flatten the side panels we can make it easy. Dave

Ace, not sure if you meant shellac after using pore filler or not. Not using pore filler - I've never used shellac as a seal coat on oak. I found that the majority of the oak takes the stain/finish very evenly. It's that deep grain that catches the…

I have always used stain to highlight the grain. Like Ace said it will be hard. You might try some kind of pore filler to keep the stain or die from collecting in the open pores. I've used a light cherry gel stain on oak that gave it a nice red col…

For years i used a 10" metal disk attached to the table saw. Something like this, I think I got mine from Sears: http://www.amazon.com/Table-Saw-Sanding-Disk-SANDING/dp/B001D6MF9Y A couple of years ago i found a disk/belt sander at a garage sale. I…

I asked that question a while back when i was making a lacewood humidor. I can't find the discussion but pretty much the everyone said to use oil based product to bring out the grain. I used danish oil, an oil based wiping varnish and polished with…

I have the T2 fence. It's a solid fence. It locks tight but if you push too hard, like with a large piece of plywood, the back of the fence will flex a bit. To modify Lou's idea you could put the new roll pin over the end of the original so you don…

It's not bad. It definitely works better if it's on a dedicated outlet. Mine came with the two cast iron wings and then i added the cast iron router wing on the right side. All that mass makes it pretty stable. The one thing that really bugs me is t…

I've had the same saw for about 3 years now. The sloppy play in the adjustment wheels is something that never really bothered me. When you start to make your adjustment you can feel when it make contact. If still want to change it you might be able…

The best reason of all - It's fun. If it's not fun it's not worth doing. And if i made pop can houses or turned tinfoil cowboy hats I would end up on some cable channel freak show. Although if I had a tinfoil cowboy hat i wouldn't have to stay insi…
