Mr Horton offers good suggestions. If I was building your project, I would probably miter the corners and let the plywood (in a dado) provide the strength. This would hide the end grain. Regular butt joints would also work and be simpler to make. If…

Crib Material Suggestions

I have recently volunteered to make a crib for a favorite niece. We decided on a design and she wants it to be "espresso" color. I've not decided on the wood yet but wondered what others thought of this comment I found in the brochure of a high quality European furniture maker: "Beech exceeds Red Oak, White Oak and Silver Maple in 6 of 7 physical properties and is superior to Rock Maple in 4 of 7 of the physical properties".
