Does your wife use bagged tea or loose? If bagged, I'd consider rows that are a good width for bags. Maybe put some corners in there for random tea stuff like strainers or sweeteners, where you can't get a row that's wide enough before hitting ang...

Thanks Kenneth, I'm not sure what I will do for the inside. My first thought was to do some separator like this : But now I think it might limit the usage or the future content of the box. What you guys are thinking, inside compartments or not?

Lovely! This will be super nice with a finish. Will the inside be open or have some compartments? I'm a tea buff myself, and have lots of different teas.

Wow Kenneth, this is a beautiful box. I love your choice of woods, I think the colors and textures are amazing. Like you said, can't wait to see the final result with finish. I am also quite impressed with your skill with hand tools. Great work!

That's a very nice trivet. I like the profile of the base. Mine will have the same kind of top made with a ceramic tile. Thanks for posting the pics. Anyway, right now I am so exited about the community website and the chance it will give be to b...

Here's a couple of pics of a trivet my pal in WA made as an early wood project. The top is tile so even the hottest pans could be set on it. I learned that the origin of "trivet" is Latin, for the tripod used over a cooking fire.

Thank you, One one the first thing I noticed about this piece (I built it from a plan) was the joint of the top part. I think that makes this chest unique.

I hope you'll post some pictures so I can take a look at them. As you can see, I still have a few other project first but by the time I'm ready, yours should be completed. I intend to "blog" the craft process so stay tune and don't hesitate to com...

I am also in the process of making trivets. These are for my mother who will be adding wine corks to them as the base. So far 3 made out of Ash and one out of cherry. Just need to sand and finish.

Nice chest. I like the little overhangs made by the top pieces being proud of the bridal joint. Nice daughter too!

Indeed I will be busy for quite sometimes. Thanks for the "trivet", after looking the dictionary, it it exactly what I was referring to. I tried searching for the origin of the word and nothing points to a french word. Anyway thanks for the info,...

Octagonal Tea Box - catching up

Hi folk,

Following my first blog entry, I start today with a posting on my current project. I'm doing 3 Octagonal Tea Boxes (well the plan was sold as a jewelry box but hey, my wife love her tea probably as much as some other women love their jewels ;-).

Ok since the project is already started, this posting will be a little bit long. Promise I'll try to do shorter message in the future. Let's start with a picture of what the box is suppose to look like.

Project list

Hi people,

Here's my first entry in my blog. I thought it would be a good idea to write down the list of project I want to do (in the right order). I never been very good at keeping a blog "alive" but if there is one that I am fully motivated to work on is a woodworking blog. Hopefully I'll have the discipline to keep you guys inform on my progress on every project I'm working on. To be honest, at this point this list is probably more to myself, as a reminder, but who knows one day my blog mayb… Continue
