Wood Whisperer Community

Just bought a new but used Unisaw and would like to purchase a new blade for it. After visiting Woodcraft I was overwhelmed by the different specialty blades. I would like an all around combination blade that will not put a hurting on the bank account. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have a woodworker II for 5 years had it sharpened twice now...no complaints. I have a diablo which i primarily use for MDF and other things that i don't want to use the WWII on. Both have done me well. I also use a rip freud when i need to rip lumber that extra thick.

I don't think you can go wrong with any of the blades. Though if you can afford I'd probably go with wwII and get some cheap old blades for cutting high resin woods and just things you don't want to use your "tried and true" blade on.

If you get a carbide blade clean it regularly - heat is the worst enemy of carbide (well ok nails are pretty nasty too)

I have used both the Woodworker II and the Freud Fusion on a variety of projects, materails and cuts and while they are both very nice blades I prefer the Fusion over the Woodworker II.

Forrest Woodworker II bar none.

I've been using mine for almost 15 years and I've never had to get it sharpened. I just keep it clean and it cuts like butta. I'm getting another one to have as a backup when I finally do have to send it to Forrest for resharpening.
The only material I've used that this blade doesn't make a perfect cut on is melamine or other laminates. For that I have a DML blade with a triple chip grind.

Freud Diablo blades are also excellent.
