I quit my life-sucking paralegal job a month or so ago. My goal was to come up with some kind of part-time work to keep my truck payments up and focus on getting my shop running in a more serious manner.
Well I found the perfect part-time job - I'm working at the Cincinnati Woodcraft. 20 hours or so a week, playing with tools, taking with woodworkers and they pay me. Once we get through the holiday season I should be doing some weekend demo's and stuff like that as well. I may be in trouble once I'm there long enough for the employee discount to kick in (I've already spotted a dozen things I never knew I needed.) but so far I'm really enjoying going to work for the first time in over a decade.
So if you're in the Cincinnati Woodcraft store and happen to see a guy with a goatee and a name tag that reads "Allen" please say hi, grab some popcorn or a cup of coffee and let's talk shop!

Very cool Allen. I noticed you had not posted for a while and was wondering what happened to you. My wife used to work at Bath and Body Works during the holidays - I think she spent more than she made.
What's the discount like? My wife has actually considered getting a p/t job at our local store. She figures the discount on my toys might make the retail job pay and hours worth it.
It is nice to hear that you are HAPPY. After being a welder for a bit over 12yrs for a company that had went to the dogs, they closed the plant. I have been a lot happier ever since. I am glad to see that it turned out great for you, and a discount as well!!
