Hi
My name is Dave Price, I live in Roswell N.M. (No alien Jokes Please...lol) I'm interested in learning cabinet making. Rite now i don't do a lot of woodworking projects, I'm in the process of putting together my shop. I currently have a rigid 10" contractor saw, craftsman band saw (not sure the size but i know it takes a 80" blade), craftsman 1/2" shaper (which gets no use because i haven't bought any cutters for it) and a lot of other misc tools. All the craftsman stuff i have is left over from when my dad had a wood shop in Ruidoso N.M. in the 70s. O yea i also have a 10" craftsman radial arm saw. Its a start. Ive watched a lot of woodworking videos on the net but i have to say that Marc is a great instructor.

Hello every one my name is Steve LiVigni and i live in Burbank IL. i'm 62 years old and have been doing woodworking of all sorts most of my life i'm a retired state worker and love to build cabinets spent nine months building my kitchen cabinets from oak vaneer plywood built about twenty cabinets. most recently i completed building an add on room of mostly pine, smaller projects that i sold over the internet serveing trays and hope to tackle Bible boxes next I have a pretty good shop that is equiped with just about everything. I hope to learn a lot of new ideas here and meet new friends along the way. my father was a cabinet maker and i learned a lot from him and cabinet builder friends of his. this site seems to be a great learning tool so far. I'm Vic Hubbard. I live in the desert of eastern WA state. I'm almost done building a 1200 shop. I'll post some pics when it's finally done to my liking. I'd like to design and learn to build my own designs. Like Marc, my tastes gravitate toward Asian furniture/architecture, with a contemporary and sometime arts and crafts feel thrown in. I've been following Marc and Nicole's progress for several years now and am still a big fan of both of them.

Howdy!

I'm robodude666 (or robo short, but all lowercase), and I'm a student going for my BS in EET (Electronics Engineering Technology - i make pretty lights blink). Although I am going to school for electronics, I really want to point my career in programming. Aside from school, I am a freelance web developer. Got into it when I was 11 years old, and now I'm enjoying my last month and a half of being a teen! Boy does time fly, eh? In addition to web development, I dabbled in Software (Win + Mac) development, as well as some game development (3D stuff, Flash, etc.).

I love building computers, though the last year or so I've greatly enjoyed my iMac and my PC has been collecting dust. Windows was just ticking me off when I needed to get work done ;). And bla bla, bla. I also like Apple Pie, and Chocolate Pie. Any pie would do, honestly.

As for my woodworking.. I spent about two years in my highschool's Theatre shop program, were we made sets and stuff for musicals that my HS put on. I also worked in crew, pushing all of the set pieces onto the stage :). Fun times!

I discovered TheWoodWhisperer from the HowIWoW podcast (Marc & Nicole were guests for one of the episodes, and plugged the site) a few months ago, but never actually visited until recently. Lately have been wanting to get an audio cabinet for my receiver, and other stuffs, but haven't found a model that I like... so I decided to get into woodworking and make my own! Noticed the TWW bookmark in my bar, and decided to click it to get started. My first project will be the Audio Cabinet, but then I plan to make other things for the family. I also would like to make custom furniture for myself in the future when we move to a new (bigger) apartment/house (with hopefully a garage).

As for other fun facts about me, I love music, anime, and enjoy to bake (you guessed it, pies but I also do cookies and cupcakes). I primarily listen to rock & metal, though I have a good amount of jpop (Japanese Popular, which includes rock, pop, techno, etc.). My personal audio setup is a pair of Paradigm Atoms + Yamaha 6140 & a Sennheiser HD 515. I plan to upgrade to AKG K 701s, and possibly get a pair of Denon AH-D5000 sometime soon. Also looking forward to owning a Totem in the future. I can't really pick a favorite anime series, though it's between CLAMP's work, FLCL, and TTGL.

I also like shiny things, and enjoy shopping for toys.. so woodworking may end up being very dangerous to my financial health... doh!

I made it through the WWW jungle, and found this place!

Like Vic, I also live in the Eastern Washington desert, and found Marc's site just before I had open heart surgery in January.

My shop is well equipped, I have made a few projects, and I am getting ready to build some more cabinets for my wife's quilting room.

Stan Foy here, started woodworking about 5 years ago. It all started with the wife buying me a Ryobi miter saw to see about making picture frames for family Christmas presents. The progressed into a full-time woodworking career after about 20 years in IT. Spent about 2 years at a custom door company, another 2 years at a small cabinet shop and now work out of my own shop (a converted carport). Enjoy life here in Northwestern Montana.

Hello all... Allen Lindsey (Allen in OH) here. Studying furniture and cabinet making at University of Cincinnati. I'm interested in all aspects of woodworking, especially furniture construction. I'm getting ready to go semi-pro. After 12+ years of having my soul sucked out of my ears by lawyers I am about to become intentionally unemployed. The plan is to pick up a part-time job to make sure I'm regularly contributing to my household and spend the rest of my time in the shop working on sellable items. Will probably start small, i.e. craft-fair kind of stuff, small turnings, etc. and see how it goes from there. I'm also considering taking on an unpaid apprenticeship in a professional cabinet shop to gain more experience.

Hi all, Jon (Milamber) here. Been doing household repair/"build what we need" as long with my parents as I can remember (I'll be 27 soon) And only recently (3 years ago) set up my own shop at my house to do the same thing. Mainly so far I've build just cabinets/shelves, but ventured into boxes a couple weeks ago. I enjoy being able to create something that I know someone will use/enjoy for a long time.

Hello All,
My name is Jason Leinberger. I started out woodworking when I was working my way through college for a general contractor. This is where I developed a love for tools and building things. Much to my wife's dismay my interests lie in all aspects of woodworking (as long as you learn to use them you should buy all the tools right?). Right now I'm trying to learn as much as I can about furniture design and hand tool technique. I am in the beginning stages of my first project where I'm trying to be more woodworker and less carpenter. I'm concentrating on developing accuracy and setting my tools for the best accuracy.

As for other interests I'm really into grilling/smoking meat. My wife and I purchased a Traeger pellet smoker/grill and I just love it. For me spending a day checking the brisket on the grill while cutting tenons is the wood shop is pretty much the best day ever. Especially if it's topped off with a few rounds of the latest game on the Xbox 360.

Howdy. Name is Ed Harp. I am a software engineer that makes things when I can to maintain sanity.

I got into metal and plastic about a decade ago and did that for years, but always had the intention of learning to work wood. Thus about a year and a half ago I began collecting tools and making a mess.

My first projects were refinishing a coffee table made from an old Chinese door, then making a table out of the front panel of a pine desk I bought in the early 80s then to smaller things like boxes, stands for computer displays, etc. I also make whacky trellises for the back yard from redwood.

I use mostly power tools though I have learned to use planes and various chisels and have begun learning to carve. Lots of potential there.

I found Marc online of course and began watching his videos. I found his approach refreshing and very useful and more than all that inspiring.

I'd say the only defining principle in my work is I will never, ever make something someone else designed. It has to be whatever I can come up with. For good or ill. And I work whenever I can, mostly on weekends. I almost always have splinters in both hands and today even in one leg. :)
